Amanda and Rob’s Wedding at Union Trust by Anastasia Romanova Photography

Anastasia Romanova Photography gracefully captured Amanda and Rob’s elegant wedding day.  The Union Trust perfectly provided this couple with a beautiful ceremony and reception venue, coordination, catering, and a lovely wedding cake all in one!  In addition to the floral brightness designed by Love ‘n Fresh Flowers, this wedding was shining with love and beautiful elements all throughout.  Amanda and Rob are a perfect match, and their awe-inspiring Philadelphia wedding is a prime example of what it means to be in Philly, and in love!

How they met:

“We met through a mutual friend and didn’t know we were being set up! Our mutual friend invited us both out to grab drinks for happy hour at New Wave Café in Queen Village and we hit it off immediately!”

How he proposed:

“We took our dog for a hike in Wissahickon Park; we love to be outdoors. We were exploring the trails and we came upon a less well traveled one. There was a nice little clearing at the top that was pretty secluded and he told me he wanted to get a group picture, when he came back from setting up the camera he pulled the ring out of his pocket! Our dog thought it was a treat, and tried to eat it. It was an eventful proposal and we caught the whole thing on film. 🙂 He then had dinner reservations planned that night for XIIX and tickets to a jazz concert at Chris’s Jazz house afterwards”

Wedding planning experience:

“Planning our wedding was stressful but great. There were a lot of moving pieces and lots of external stressors from family and friends. Additionally, working full time jobs with limited free time made it easy for us to decide that the simpler the plan, the better. We found a venue that we loved which came with caterers, a bakery, and a coordinator to help plan minor details. We had the best vendors who made our decisions easy and were wonderful to work with! We also had a less traditional wedding where we had one of our close friends preform the ceremony, and we obtained a self uniting marriage certificate. We were able to have the ceremony and reception in the same location, which made the day go very smoothly.”

Best wedding memory:

“The ceremony. Since we chose to have our close friend perform the ceremony, it was ours to create. I loved that we could include the pieces of religion we held close to our hearts and the freedom to incorporate our loved ones into one of the most important day of our lives. It was so nice to be surrounded by so much love and support during this affirmation of love and commitment to each other.”

Wedding planning advice:

“I recommend staying true to yourselves through the planning process. There are many opinions and external pressures, but you can always find a way to get it done within your budget. Also, don’t stress the little things. Minor problems will work themselves out, and you’ll want your memories to revolve around the big picture: this is your day. Also if you did not hire a videographer, I would suggest to ask a trusted friend to tape the speeches and first dance, its nice to have some things on video :)”
