If there’s one thing everyone can enjoy, it’s definitely great food and good times shared with family and friends! Jessica and Tim‘s perfectly planned rehearsal dinner at Barbuzzo was a festive event to remember. Brittney Raine Photography photographed every phenomenal moment that utterly translates the urban-chic setting, charming decor, and abundant love that befell on this beautiful Summer evening. From the beautiful blooms, down to the endless smiles and laughter, beauty flourished this day, and it’s all the inspiration a Philly bride needs!
From the Bride: “When I found out my mother-in-law booked Barbuzzo Upstairs for our rehearsal dinner, I was ecstatic (being the foodie bride I am – see @honestcravings). Barbuzzo’s main restaurant dishes, like the cacciocavallo stuffed meatballs and burrata from Puglia, are some of mine and the groom’s all-time favorites in Philly, so we couldn’t wait to pick our menu together and experience the food in their private event space upstairs.”
“Equally as exciting to me as the food was the farmhouse- meets-urban-vintage inspired decor, including an open kitchen with a chef’s counter, where Chef Marcie Turney tests her creations on the days the space is not booked. Knowing it would be a night to remember, I immediately contacted our wedding photographer, Brittney Raine, to ask her to capture the night.”
“The groom’s family are big fans of charcuterie & cheese boards (Italian roots), so naturally it made sense to incorporate that into the menu. Laid across one of their pretty farm tables to welcome our guests, the spread included sopresatta, proscuitto, sao pao, cana de cabra, and rogue smokey blue cheese, with accouterments like blueberry and peach jam, cornichons, sweet fennel crackers, whole grain mustard, and marcona almonds. The open kitchen gave our dinner a comfortable and laid back feel (to juxtapose the black tie wedding planned for the following day), and was one of my favorite parts of the night. Getting a behind-the-scenes look at the skill and thoughtful preparation going into your meal makes the food all the better.”
“An intimate wedding was not an option for us (we both have large families), but if I could have had an intimate wedding it would have looked just like this. Gorgeous wooden farm tables offset by metallic chairs and exposed brick walls… perfection. In addition to the already beautiful event space, the thoughtful details throughout the dinner like the monogrammed napkins at each place setting made the evening so special for us. My MIL had them made specifically for the evening by a friend of hers. And as both my maiden name (Gallagher) and now married name (Gehring) start with a “G”, the monogram is and always will be special to both of us in more ways than one. The upstairs was also adorned with fresh arrangements by Jackie Baik of Beautiful Blooms, photos of our grandparents and of course some of our favorite engagement photos by Brittney Raine. These pretty little touches throughout helped our personalities come into play, while letting the space speak for itself.”
“Oh and the penguin card… a gentle reminder from my groom the night before our wedding. We both needed it.”
“We can’t thank Barbuzzo and my in-laws enough for such an incredible dinner start to finish, and we can never thank Brittney enough for capturing all of the love and yumminess. If you’re a bride getting married in Philly, I cannot recommend both more.”
