How they met:

From the Bride: “Jared had an appointment with his podiatrist (my dad). After some routine foot care and witty banter, my dad asked if Jared was single, and if so, suggested he reach out to me if he was interested. Jared was, indeed, interested, and after several exchanged Facebook messages, texts, and phone calls, we planned to go on our first date!”

How he proposed:

“Under the guise of “Sunday Funday”, Jared suggested we grab lunch and drinks at Misconduct Tavern (the last stop on our first date). After finishing lunch, Jared suggested we get our next drink at Rouge and actually recreate our first date (which I’m constantly nagging him to do). After our glass of wine at Rouge, we went upstairs to our condo, and when I opened the door, to my surprise, there were rose petals, candles, photos of us strung up from wall to wall, music playing, and Jared down on one knee. To my surprise, both of our families were waiting downstairs with champagne to celebrate!”

Planning the wedding:

“I was a total stress case! I am terrible at making decisions, and I was not one of those girls who had a clear idea or “vision” of what she wanted her wedding to be like before my engagement. It was only after investing some serious time in blogs and Pinterest that I started to form any sort of strong opinion about the type of look/color scheme I was going for. After I decided on that, things sort of fell into place on their own.”

What was your best memory/moment from your wedding day?

“For me, it was definitely our “first look”! There was so much anticipation and excitement leading up to that one moment – I can’t even believe how nervous I was. All the months of preparation leading up to the wedding, and hours of prep to get ready, I was counting down the minutes ALL day until I got to see him for the first time and have that special one-on-one moment. It was the first time it really felt like it was all happening; I still get goosebumps when I think about how that moment felt.”

What advice can you give to couples planning a wedding?

“Don’t get so caught up in the details! When you’re planning, it seems utterly impossible not to, but those are the things that will bog you down and cause unnecessary stress. On my actual wedding day, I was so much in my own happily married world that I literally didn’t even notice any of the things I was stressing about prior to the event.

Also – and this advice is for the actual wedding day – after the ceremony, take a few minutes to yourselves and soak it all in. Everyone told us to do this, and we were SO glad we did! A really special, personal moment to just be alone as newlyweds before all the celebrations begin.”
