Rebekah Viola Photography had the pleasure of capturing this unique engagement shoot at IKEA, and we couldn’t be happier to share these marvelous couple portraits. Rose and Dan are seemingly not your typical couple, and their amazing chemistry correlates to the cultivated magic at IKEA. I think it’s really special to see a couple revisit a place that holds a momentous meaning to their relationship, and the way that these two laugh, and play around the store, you would think they are in the comfort of their home! From the Photographer: “My heart is filled with excitement to share the most unique engagement session at Ikea! Rose and Dan contacted me early winter, and I could feel the excitement through email. They both have a love for IKEA, and they couldn’t think of any better place to celebrate their love than there! They decorate their home with IKEA, and love the IKEA cafe, and had some of their favorite moments together there. The day was filled with laughter and adventure as we explored the store while capturing their love. Dan and Rose are a one of a kind couple, with the most inspiring love for each other. This I found out more and more as we walked the halls and rooms of IKEA. We ended the day with the famous IKEA cafe, and spinning on carts outside it couldn’t have been more perfect!”
How They Met:
“Dan and I knew each other in high school but lost touch afterwords for 13 years. Then I stalked him at the grocery store and the rest is history!”
“Other than the fact that he’s basically the best human being ever, what I love most about Dan, is that he is a stand up man with a heart of gold who keeps me laughing. He’s everything I ever prayed for and more.”
The Proposal:
“He proposed on our one year anniversary, he actually kept stalling so that it could be at the same time of day that we met! He made a very thoughtful and beautiful photo book of our first year together and the last picture was of my ring. Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.”
Engagement Session Inspiration:
“We definitely knew that we wanted to do something that was “us.” On my birthday, which was shortly after we started dating we took off of work together and he had planned a day trip to IKEA. I had never been there before and it was amazing to just walk though for the first time, we go every year right around my birthday now. So when we started thinking about potential places to do our engagement pictures, of coarse IKEA came up since it was our first real “day trip date” together. Luckily they were very receptive to the idea.”
“Much like the engagement pictures our wedding is a little out of the norm. We are planning a very small intimate ceremony with close family and friends. Since it is going to be on a farm in a yurt, the planning thus far has been going pretty smooth.”
