Jewel-toned colors, and metallic elements combined for an elegant wedding that was absolute perfection. This beguiling day began with a lovely ceremony at Bryn Athyn Cathedral and concluded with a festive reception at the Cairnwood Estate, both settings deemed this wedding a royal affair. The stunning bride looked gorgeous in her Atelier Pronovias gown, and her attire was perfectly complemented by her groom who dashingly pulled off his suit from The Black Tux. Nothing could compare to how well this couple looked on this enchanting day but the pretty handcrafted DIY details and the beautiful and bold floral arrangements were certainly befitting. How They Met:
“We met in 2010 while we were both studying accounting at James Madison University. We both joined the same business frat and were introduced by mutual friends.”
About the Venue | Cairnwood Estate:
“We knew immediately upon driving up to the property that we had to get married at Cairnwood Estate! The grounds were beautifully manicured and the house was reminiscent of a French Chateau. The Bryn Athyn Cathedral across from the estate looked like something straight out of Downtown Abbey! The Gothic elements and stained glass windows were so unlike anything we had seen in the area. It felt like a destination wedding spot, even though it was only 45 minutes from home! We really like that we had full use of the mansion for the night. Guests were free to wander throughout the different rooms and gardens at their leisure. There were four rooms that guests were seated in for dinner which gave off the feel of an intimate dinner party instead of a large ballroom reception.”
Wedding Inspiration:
“Our wedding theme was ‘romantic elegance.’ We used a lot of jewel tones and metallic accents for everything from the invites to table settings/decor. Most of the decorations were DIY projects. All of the signs used during the reception were hand painted. Also, I added gold/silver leaf to all of the vases used for table settings & decor around the house, as well as put together the silk flowers arrangements. It really felt special looking at all of the hard work and effort I had put into making the day perfect and it was awesome to be able to share it with all our guests! I used burgundy, fuchsia, and plum colored flowers to compliment the metallic vases and the jewel hued linens. The bridesmaids wore hunter green gowns and gold shoes/accessories. I chose green for the gowns because it is such a beautiful rich color and it really flattered each of the bridesmaids regardless of their different features. The color also looked amazing among all of the lush green landscaping and the neutral tones of the estate.”
Best Wedding Memory:
“The thing I will remember most was how nervous Matt was about us not having practiced our first dance! We chose the song, “Dream A Little Dream of Me” by Michael Bublé, a few months before the wedding day and kept putting off our dance practice. We actually had never really slow danced together before except for the brief times at weddings. Definitely never with 100+ people watching! About 5 minutes before the bridal party was to be announced into the reception, Matt pulled me aside in a panic and suggested we practice in a room off the bridal suite. Next thing we know, the DJ was announcing us in and Michael Bublé started playing. Things went off without a hitch! It felt like it was just the two of us in the room! Matt quickly got his confidence back and we were even able to pull off a few twirls!”
“Our wedding day was so incredible! The whole day felt like the best dream! From walking down the aisle in the majestic Cathedral, taking pictures among the breathtaking scenery, to mingling with our friends & family in such an enchanting place, the day could not have been more perfect! All of our vendors were amazing and truly helped to make our day special!”
