From the Bride: “Rick and I met at the Great American Pub in Conshohocken. I was on a girl’s night and he was out on a guy’s night. His friends started chatting with me and my girlfriend, while Rick pretty much ignored me and danced by himself on the dance floor. Still makes me laugh thinking about it. Then both groups got together a few weeks later and I could not resist approaching him. He has those beautiful eyes, and that night he was wearing a fitted black t-shirt that showed his muscles off in all the right ways, so honestly I chased him first. After lots of texting back and forth, we went on our first date at Seasons 52 a few weeks later. I knew that night he was “the one” after having one of the most honest, open and interesting conversations I’ve ever had. I never believed [in “the one”], but Rick changed that for me [after] one night together. Pretty amazing how one person can change it all.”

“I love how he has been through so much in his life, but he’s persevered and is successful in his career and overall just a positive, upbeat person. I love his honesty. I love how [he] helps me [become more] open to new adventures and get out of my shell. And I love how supportive he is.”

“He proposed at the top of the Seattle Space Needle on our 2nd year anniversary. We were going there to celebrate our anniversary with his parents by having dinner, but before dinner we checked out the observation deck to look out at Seattle. It was quite a picturesque scene. Then he proposed. At first I was confused, but once I realized what was happening I could not have been any happier. Once I said “Yes!” all the people surrounding us on the observation deck started clapping. It was seriously straight out of a movie.”

“Classic, timeless, romantic” are the words I keep using to explain what I want my wedding to be like. The older architecture style of the Valley Forge Chapel mixed with its natural surroundings made it the perfect place. It felt like we were in a classic storybook romance. As an English teacher and book lover I think I was inspired by some of the novels I’ve read throughout my life, plus I wanted a look that would always appear pretty and not outdated. I am hoping the direction we are going with the style of our wedding will help that.”

“Yes, we have started wedding planning. It is super fun, but I definitely had no idea how much details actually go into it. Luckily Rick and I have an incredible support team helping, and we have made some connections with some truly kind and talented vendors like Danielle Marie, The Merion Tribute House (for our reception), St. Aspah’s (for our ceremony) and PTG catering.”

From the Photographer: “Rick + Miriah’s engagement session was filled with so much love, beautiful details, and of course those honest and meaningful moments. Miriah’s goal was to mimic the feel of their wedding next year with timeless details and that little bit of vintage charm. I believe we accomplished just that and so much more. While the fall was transcending into winter, the clouds filled the sky and muted the colors around us but Rick and Miriah’s personality brought so much life and spirit back into the images. From the gorgeous florals to the vintage car, the amazing architectural details of 1900’s Washing Memorial Chapel and the open fields of Valley Forge, it was just short of perfection. As if we could top off everything that seemed so great already, I asked Rick and Miriah to write love letters to one another that they could read at the end of our session. It was such an incredibly touching and heartfelt way to end our short time together as their journey together continues.

It is my mission to capture those meaningful little moments and bring out that beauty that is far greater than skin deep. I believe I accomplished that mission and I think you’ll agree too.”
