Wildflower Brimming Engagement Session by Bartlett Pair Photography

Katie and Josh are the cutest college sweethearts, and their floral filled engagement session is an illustration of their blooming love.  Washington Crossing Historic Park is a charming place all on its own, but when this couple showed up it turned into an ethereal setting that is oh-so-dreamy!  Bartlett Pair Photography enjoyed a day full of sun and whimsy with this joyful couple, and the photos below are just a piece of their endearing love story.

From the Photographer, Bartlett Pair Photography: “So – let me start off by saying that all of our couples are fun…but some of them are SO fun that we almost forget we are working at an engagement session instead of hanging out with old friends. Katie and Josh are that kind of couple – so playful and down to earth and just an absolute pleasure to be around! We had so much fun exploring with them and Josh was even kind enough to let us in on some of their secret spots within Washington Crossing Historic Park – like the stunning field of wildflowers with the insane view, that is where he took Katie for romantic picnics! They are also ridiculously adorable together so our job was a breeze. We are so excited for their wedding and had the best time getting to know them!”

How They Met:

“Josh and I met in college; we both attended a smaller liberal arts school in New Jersey. Josh was on the Cross Country team and I was in a Sorority, and somehow we never crossed paths until his senior year (my junior year) – which is pretty rare considering how small the school was. Our college required that we take a certain amount of credits in liberal arts course to graduate; Josh and I both happened to take a piano class the second semester in 2013. I remember when I first saw Josh, before I even knew what his name was, I told my friends “I’m going to marry that hot guy in my piano class!” Neither of us really learned how to play the piano that well but I’d say we both got more out of the class then we originally expected as I never thought I would meet my husband there!”

“There are a million things that I love about Josh. He is incredibly kind, compassionate, loving and is just so much fun to be around. But I would have to say that the thing that I love most about Josh is that he is always trying to put a smile on my face; no matter how good or bad my day is, Josh makes it a point to tell me how proud he is of me and how much he loves me. Josh is absolutely my best friend and I am so lucky to be marrying someone as amazing as him!”

The Proposal:

“On New Years Day, Josh and I had planned on going to Philadelphia for the Mummers parade and then to Parc for an early dinner reservation. After dinner, Josh said he wanted to go check out a new bar he heard of that was a couple blocks away. As we were walking towards what I thought was the bar, we came up to Addison Street, which if anyone hasn’t been before, it’s a brick stone block lined with Christmas lights all year round! It was beautiful, and Josh proposed. Of course I said yes!  The Day was full of surprises including my best friend taking some quick pictures of the engagement, but it didn’t stop there. Afterwards, he had planned a surprise engagement party at his parents’ house, I thought we were just meeting our families to celebrate but when i opened the door we were met by over 100 of our closest family and friends and partied the night away! it was a perfect night to say the least.”

Engagement Session Inspiration:

“We had our engagement pictures taken at Washington Crossing Historic Park. It’s located in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey, which is ironic since Josh is from PA and I am from NJ. Josh ran in the park a lot while in school for cross country, but what’s really special about Washington’s Crossing is that Josh had taken me there for my birthday one year and we had a picnic atop a hill overlooking the Delaware River. The location is one of Josh’s favorite in all of New Jersey, its a quaint location which is a nice surprise from the rustle and bustle of the NJ and PA suburbs. During the Spring and Summer the hill top is covered in wild flowers and provided an out of this world view of the valley below. We both love the outdoors and felt like it was the perfect spot for our pictures.”

Wedding Planning Experience:

“Wedding planning has been a lot of fun! We are a pretty laid-back couple so there really hasn’t been too much stress yet. The most important thing for us on our wedding day is to celebrate “us” with all our family and friends! We are getting married next September of 2017 at an old dairy barn in Collegeville, PA. we still have a number of things that need to be completed before then but we are looking forward to the planning and even more so the wedding itself!”
