How They Met
“Dario and I met while skiing at Elk Mountain when we were young kids. We raced on the same ski team and became very good friends at about 10 years old. We started dating when we realized we were both living in Boston after college.”
The Proposal
“He proposed the first Friday night we were living in Philadelphia on November 4th. We had just relocated from Boston to be back in Pennsylvania where we grew up. He popped the question on the rooftop of our apartment building – while a photographer was hiding there capturing the whole thing. We then went to Ocean Prime for dinner where our families were waiting to surprise me! After dinner, another surprise was planned at the local waterhole, The Happy Rooster. About 30 of our friends were waiting in the bar to surprise me, I immediately started crying when I saw so many friends who came from Boston and NYC. We celebrated late into the night!”
Wedding Planning
“My experience was great! Thanks to my awesome wedding planner Kristin and also to my mom, sister, and my husband who were with me every step. I had no idea what to expect which is why working with an experienced planner was such a godsend. My 9-month timeline put us in go mode very quickly so I felt like much of the planning flew by! I tried to just have fun with it and not take any part too seriously. I had so much faith that the day would end up perfectly, and it did.”
Water Works
“People told me ‘you’ll just feel that it’s right’ when looking and picking out a venue and I did not believe that for a second. However, that’s exactly what happened! The Water Works was the third place we looked at and had never been there, but within minutes of walking around the property, we just knew it was the spot. For us, it was the perfect mix of city and remote. We wanted a space that was intimate and unique which can be hard to find in a city, so we knew immediately that this was the spot for us.”
Wedding Inspiration
“There wasn’t much of a gameplan or theme for our wedding, we just started to pick things we liked and felt like us. We knew we wanted a romantic vibe, so we focused on using candles as décor. The venue itself is also so beautiful we didn’t want to compete or change anything too much so we decided to go with simple white and green flowers, a champagne tablecloth and things like that. We had a few stand out items like the dancefloor which was a striking design of white and black and also a flower wall which we were married in front of.”
“Besides exchanging our vows, which was pure magic and unlike anything we have ever experienced emotionally. My favorite memory was the toast from my dad, sister and Dario’s two best friends. Dario and I just laughed so much and cried a little too. They just did a great job and made us feel so incredibly loved and happy, it brought the whole room of 200+ together in a way that made it all feel like family.”
Wedding Planning Advice
“I want to say don’t let the process send you into full stress mode, but its pretty much impossible to not get stressed. So I would say my real advice is to also have fun with it. I had to actively remind myself this is supposed to be fun and happy! Set some time aside to hang out with your fiancé and talk about the fun parts, what are the little spins you both want to put on the day that makes it yours.”
Wedding Vendors
“We may have lucked out but all the vendors we worked with did an excellent job. I think our planner steered us in the right direction with who to use and working with Cescaphe Event Group was just outstanding. Their attention to detail and execution of event planning is unmatched. We also chose to work with people we liked, which ended up making the process that more enjoyable.”
