Classic, Elegant Winter Wedding at The Lucy

Truly making it their day, Patrice and Adam’s late December wedding at The Lucy was personalized and overflowing with love from their families. Even Hank, their dog, made an appearance (read on to find out how!).

As for their favorite part of their wedding, Patrice and Adam couldn’t pick just one. The couple says they loved, “Our first look, our vows, our families, and the dance floor!”

From the photographer, Benjamin Deibert Photography: “When couples pull off sheer elegance without an ounce of stress, we marvel at this. And that’s just what Patrice and Adam did. They truly made this event special, with subtle yet personal details that were meaningful to them: the very special vows, being married by a close friend, hiring a band Patrice found before she even met Adam, and a replica of their dog Hank hidden on the back of their cake. And the best part: one of their best friends personally sang several songs (including their first dance) for the couple.”

The Proposal

From the happy couple: “It was a quiet moment in our apartment. Adam set the mood with some wine, music, and candles, and with the help of our pup Hank, he got down on one knee and popped the question.”

Wedding Planning

The duo moved through planning with plenty of support. Every detail was thought out, down to the basket of beautiful shoes so guests could swap out their heels for dancing shoes.

“It was both exhilarating and exhausting! We locked in all the big pieces right away, then had some time to plan the details. The last few weeks were crazy, but we did it together, and our families and friends were a huge help throughout the whole process,” Patrice and Adam said.

Photographer Benjamin Deibert Photography added about the family, “Patrice and Adam have a huge, really amazing and loving family (heck, they have their own hashtag #FanningsRule) that were some of the best dancers we’ve seen.”

The Lucy

Patrice and Adam picked a venue so brand new that it didn’t even exist when they booked their wedding. However, that they took the leap of faith, saying, “We took a bit of a risk by booking The Lucy, which wasn’t even built at the time, but we knew Cescaphe’s reputation and loved their vision of a sleek, modern room at the heart of the city.”

With Broad Street, City Hall, The Union League, and more Philly-centric locations close to the venue, its coordinates are ideal for photos near the venue on the wedding day.

Wedding Inspiration

Patrice and Adam used the holiday season and a desire for a classy, elegant look to dictate their wedding, saying, “We wanted to capture the excitement and anticipation of New Year’s Eve, and kept the look simple and clean: black and white with a splash of color.”

Wedding Planning Advice

“Be patient and be flexible! Figure out what’s really important for each person, and know that the other stuff will all be fine,” say Patrice and Adam.

Wedding Vendors

The happy couple could not have been more thrilled with their vendor choices, with high praise for the team that made their wedding come to life. Patrice and Adam said, “We were lucky to have fantastic vendors that checked every detail twice. Joe Volpe and the whole team at Cescaphe really went out of their way to keep us involved in the process, especially since we were dealing with a new venue. Chelsea at Beautiful Blooms did an amazing job with the flowers. Ben and Ashley from Benjamin Deibert Photography are the coolest and easiest people to work with, and captured our day beautifully. And we have to give a major shout out to our band, Swift Technique. They listened to all of our requests and kept the dance floor packed all night.”
