How They Met:
“We actually met through mutual friends. Mutual friends of ours dated after high school but Jim and I never met during that time. Years later, after their break up, we were at a bar on Frankford Ave and Nicole introduced me to Jim (even though he swears I knew who he was already). We learned that we also worked at the same company but would never have known each other because it is so large. We became good friends for about a year and hung out with mutual friends until we became each other’s favorite drinking buddy (to be young again). One night over drinks (of course), we kissed and almost a decade later, here we are!”
“Jim’s parents had made plans to take us out to Ocean Prime for Jim’s 30th birthday weekend. They invited Jim’s sister along with her fiancé and daughter, as well as my mother and step-dad. Our families are close, so having an event with both sides of our families is normal to us. The big day came, and we met everyone at the restaurant. We ate a fabulous dinner and were enjoying each other’s company. Once dinner was over it was time to open Jim’s birthday gifts. His niece handed him the first gift. We watched as Jim unwrapped the paper and opened up the box. He shifted through the tissue paper … and then all I saw was the small black ring box. My heart stopped and I knew … From that moment on, I couldn’t take the smile off my face. Jim asked me to stand up, but I sat in complete shock. He dropped to one knee and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him, as our families were taking photos and videos. I stood there with tears of joy and shaking hands, nodding my head YES 100 times. As I snapped back to reality, part two of his surprise began. I looked over to the stairs leading to our table and a train of people starting walking toward me with “She said yes” signs and flowers: My dad, step-mom, half-sisters, my girlfriends, and Jim’s friends were all there to share this special day with us. I was overwhelmed with excitement and joy … I was the happiest girl in the world in that moment. The entire rest of the night is a daze—however I do know we celebrated. I know we laughed. I know it was one of the best nights of my life.
Wedding Planning Experience:
“Wedding planning is stressful sometimes. Everything comes at a price and specific details that need to be planned out but it was such a great experience at the same time. My husband and I worked as a team to make decisions on the things we both deemed important like music and food and I was able to work with my mom on all the other parts like my dress and flowers. Wedding planning became an obsession of mine throughout the entire engagement and with all that planning and Jim’s acceptance in my craziness, we were able to create our version of the perfect wedding.”
“Gold, white and basically everything that sparkles!”
Best Wedding Memory:
“How can I just pick one?!? Well besides the first glance I saw Jim at the end of the altar (which is a surreal breathtaking moment), I would say my favorite moment was our first dance. We danced for three minutes at most but it felt like time stopped for a moment and we were the only two people in the room. We were excited, happy, giddy, in love and ready to start the party! The rest of the night flew by. I will never forget that it was the hottest day of the summer on August 13, 2016 – but it didn’t matter!”
Wedding Planning Advice:
“No matter how much you plan, minor unplanned things will happen.. but I promise, it will still be the best day of your life. Most unplanned (or wrong) things that do happen your guests won’t even notice. Just smile and let the day play out.. stay in the moment and be the happiest person, you really are marrying the love of your life. The day really does go by incredibly fast, it’s important to enjoy every second of it.”
Wedding Vendor Experience:
“Each of the vendors we used were beyond amazing. They all were so pleasant to work with and were there each step of the way. The Cescaphe Events Group executed the perfect wedding and all of our other vendors input made the day better than I could have dreamed. DJ Micah kept everyone on the dance floor all night long which is exactly what I wanted!”
