Katie and Matt are full of holiday spirit, and festive joy! Alison Conklin Photography illustrated their undeniable love in these beautifully stunning photographs that are brimming with romance. Rittenhouse was the perfect locale for this shoot, because around this time of year the string lights are glowing all throughout the neighborhood. But this couple is surely beaming brighter with engagement glee! This engagement session is complete with all of its cold-weather beauty, and merry & bright elements that’ll definitely add a little bit of Winter cheer to your day!
How They Met:
“Matt and I met at the shore in Avalon, NJ. Mutual friends brought us to the famous Whitebriar happy hour on a Sunday afternoon. Later that night we made our way to the Princeton and the rest is history :)”
What Do You Love Most About Him:
“Hm. This is a hard one. Mostly because it is difficult to articulate how much I really love Matt. What I love most about Matt is his most genuine, honest and kind heart. He has a very understated way of always doing the right thing and looking out for the people whom he loves. He is one of these people who makes you feel good when you meet him. That, and his smile and eyes and laugh :)”
The Proposal:
“I came home to our apartment one evening after working out. I opened up our door and all of the lights were out, candles were lit all over our apartment and Matt was standing in our dining room dressed up, with a bottle of champagne, flowers and a dish, gifted to him by my sister with the quote “The best is yet to be” all set out on the table. When I asked him what was going on, though I had a pretty good idea at that point, he pointed to the blocks on our hall table which spelled out “Will you marry me?” Then he got down on one knee and asked the easiest question I’ve ever had to answer.
It was the middle of the week and we were all by ourselves. After about 2 hours of phone calls, Facetime and text messages celebrating our news, I got dressed up and we went out to toast our engagement at Assembly, the rooftop bar at The Logan hotel. The night ended with Matt and I curled up on our couch eating pizza and watching Friends. Perfect.”
Engagement Session Inspiration:
“Since we were taking our photos in the winter, I wanted to make them feel has holiday-festive as possible. We took advantage of the Christmas lights that are up around Rittenhouse. I brought a bright red blanket to add some extra holiday color and cheer and topped it off with cute mittens and gloves that I found at Skirt. My plan is to frame the photos and make them Christmas decorations for years to come!”
Wedding Planning Experience:
“We dove right into wedding planning and it has been fun so far! We are getting married this coming summer so it will be fun to think summer thoughts through the winter. There are, for sure, a lot of details to plan and decisions to make, but I am trying to have fun with it and remember that the whole point is that I get to marry Matt.”
