Dazzling Gatsby Inspired 1920’s Style Wedding at the Crystal Tea Room by J&J Studios

written by Dolly Marshall

From the photographer J&J Studios, “We were so excited to celebrate Elizabeth and Edward’s Crystal Tea Room wedding in Philadelphia, PA last February. From iconic Philadelphia City Hall bridal portraits to reception entrances in T-rex costumes, this is a wedding you don’t want to miss!”

How They Met

“We met roaming the halls at Gloucester Catholic High School. We lost touch for awhile after high school graduation, but started talking again our junior year of college and the rest is history!”

The Proposal

“Eddie proposed just as Liz envisioned! When the topic of engagement would come up, Liz would say “I want to be at home, in my pajamas, drinking coffee and eating a bagel.” A few days after Christmas, just as she finished drinking her coffee and eating her bagel, Eddie got down on TWO knees to ask for Liz’s hand in marriage!”

Wedding Planning

“Planning our wedding was a blast. We tried to stick with local vendors all from Philadelphia, and they are the ones who truly completed our vision.”

The Crystal Tea Room

“We chose the Crystal Tea Room because we loved that there was space for a big band and big dance floor, but also that it had a classic and elegant feel that complimented our colors and Art Deco/Gatsby decor.”

Wedding Inspiration

“With our wedding date set for early 2020, we thought of incorporating some roaring 20’s Art Deco/Gatsby details into our day. We were cautious about  maintaining an air of elegance—- not too many feathers and pearls, but just enough! Truthfully, the team at Fabufloras helped create our vision with our bouquets and centerpieces!”

Best Moment

Liz – “My favorite memory was looking out during the ceremony and seeing everyone we love together just smiling!! Everyone was so happy.”

Ed – “Everyone’s response to us all day was just positive and full of love. Even walking around City Hall and Broad Street, strangers just wished us well and congratulations. All we felt all day was love and happiness.”
