Who is Leah, the artist behind the camera?

I am a nature loving mama of two beautiful girls. When my husband and I have time off together, we love getting out in nature with our kids. I am a firm believer that music is food for the soul, and have music on in my house almost all the time. I love a good craft beer and I will never say no to dark chocolate. I feel most at home when I am cooking a good meal for my family while listening to some music (and maybe even enjoying a beer!)

When did you first realize your passion for photography, and how has this journey cultivated you into the photographer you are now?

Growing up, I was always watching my dad capture simple life moments. One of my all time favorite prints, is me and my siblings playing in a pile of leaves. I look at it and it takes me right back to my childhood, and I smile. We used to visit my grandparents every summer and I remember one summer my grandfather brought me into his darkroom. He had prints hanging up, awards he had won in local competitions, developing equipment everywhere. When I got into high school, I took every photo class they had to offer. I spent my afternoons in the dark room playing around with techniques. I was obsessed. From then on, it’s been something I wanted to pursue as a career. It’s been an amazing journey and I wouldn’t trade it for the world. When my couples get their images, my goal is to transport them back to that special moment during their wedding day.

What is the process like for couples who want to book you for their wedding?

I like to think that the booking process with me is easy and fun. Something that is really important to me is compatibility with my couples. So many amazing vendors will pour their heart and soul into making your wedding day style come together perfectly. But consider this: the photographer is likely going to be one of the only vendors that will be with you all day long. I want to make sure we are a good fit, that you love my work, and that you’re okay with me getting down on the dance floor while I capture reception shenanigans! I make it easy to get in touch with me by simply filling out the contact form on my website. From there, I like to meet in person or set up a phone call so we can chat and hopefully work together to create magic!

What do you love most about photographing weddings/couples?

I think my favorite thing about photographing couples and weddings are the emotions. The excitement, the love from family and friends and the ultimate gift of sharing your vows. I love seeing all the details come together, the couple portraits (give me some time for just the two of you, and we will create some great images together!),  and of course the dance floor fun!

What has been your most memorable encounter with a client? Were they highly satisfied?

I think it is honestly too hard for me to pick just one. I love the connections I have made over the years. Some of my clients have turned into friends and that is the best thing ever! Since my roots are in film, I have always been a big believer in printing your images. No matter what collection you book, there will always be something tangible included, such as prints or an album. I have received so many compliments from my clients about how nice it is to hold their wedding day images.

Is there anything you really hope to do in the future such as an event or project relative to your business that you haven’t gotten the chance to do yet?

The first thing that comes to mind is travel and do a few destination weddings. I am dreaming big, in hopes that one day I can travel to Italy and do what I love. I have always wanted to go there and haven’t yet. I know one day it will happen!
