LOVE Park Micro Wedding

Like so many other couples, COVID 19 caused Nick and Carly to rethink their wedding plans. Their more traditional wedding was to be held in Tarrytown, NY, but has been postponed until 2021. In the meantime, Nick and Carly wanted to have their own micro wedding with their dog, a few friends, and family. So what better place to do it than in LOVE Park in front of our famous LOVE sign? Kimberly Kunda Photography was there to document this touching Philadelphia micro wedding.

How They Met

From Nick:

“Carly and I have known each other since middle school. We grew up in the same hometown in Connecticut, and briefly dated back in the 7th grade. We still may never know who broke up with who, but regardless, we stayed friends through high school. Once we went off to college, we really only saw each other when all our friends went home for Thanksgiving and we got to go out and catch up with old friends. However, Carly and I have a great mutual friend of ours who I worked with previously, and he had organized a big get together for a number of our mutual friends while we were both living in NYC. Everyone agreed to a date, and we all intended to get together. The date came and went, and everyone bailed. Despite a few attempts to reschedule, we weren’t able to reschedule the get together. But one night after I had been liking her photos on Instagram all summer, Carly decided to reach out and message me to see if I wanted to meet for a drink to catch up. We ended up going to what is now our favorite bar in NYC, and chatted all night until the bar closed at 4 AM. I walked her home, kissed her goodnight and asked her out on a real date two days later. From that point we’ve been pretty much inseparable. “

The Proposal

“Fast forward to a few years later, I decided to ask her to marry me while on a ski trip out in Aspen. So on March 14th, 2018 (yes, pi day in case you’re a math nerd), we went up the lift and I proposed to her while overlooking the back bowls of Aspen mountain. Her best friend was there to document the whole thing. “

On COVID Affecting Wedding Plans

“Carly and I were supposed to get married Tarrytown, NY, but due to COVID had to move our wedding to next year. In an effort to not let the pandemic ruin our year, we invited both of our parents and my two siblings to Philadelphia to have an informal wedding on May 30th. We planned to have my sister say a few words and ‘marry’ us.”
