It was a series of serendipitous events that finally led up to the engagement of Katelyn and Joseph. Have you ever heard of people being destined for each other? Well this couple epitomizes what fate can do! For this engagement session they wanted to showcase a variety of locations in the city that were lovingly captured by Nicole Cordisco Photography.
Nicole explained, “for this engagement session they wanted to have photos taken at City Hall, Dilworth Park, Race Street Pier and their apartment building rooftop. We had planned on starting before sunset and ending with some beautiful night time skyline images. I love how we were able to capture the changing of light as the evening went on. It added this piece of romance that they really wanted to capture in their photographs.”
How They Met
“Eight years ago, Joe and I met at Penn State through a mutual friend on our first night out in college. We hit it off and spent the whole night talking to each other. After a few months of getting to know each other, we became inseparable and knew we had met our soulmate. We soon realized that we had actually been around each other quite often. Joe went to high school not far from my house and we grew up in the same area, with similar groups of friends, and had been to many of the same events. We even discovered an old camp photo of Joe sitting directly behind me when we were 15 years old! It is crazy to think your soulmate could be in the same room as you for so long before ever meeting. We like to believe it was fate trying to get us to meet until finally Penn State brought us together.”
Regarding their relationship, Katelyn shares what attracts her most about fiance, “What I admire and love most about Joe is his positivity. Through the good and the bad, Joe always keeps me laughing. He has a way of making things fun and bringing the best out in people. He always reminds me to live in the moment and to not take life too seriously.”
The Proposal
“Joe told me he’d like to spend the weekend at his family’s shore house in Avalon, NJ. Once we arrived, he told me that he wanted to go for a walk on the beach before dinner. After making our way up on the dune, Joe pulled out a beautiful ring from a Victoria Secret hot pink cooler, to which I whispered a gentle reminder..”Joe… don’t forget to kneel!” It was a beautiful moment surrounded by the humor that has always been a constant in our relationship. At the bottom of the dune, our parents watched and snapped as many photos as they could. Later that night, both of our families joined us for dinner and an all night celebration at my favorite childhood vacation spot, Sea Isle City.”
Engagement Session Inspiration
“Growing up in the suburbs of Philadelphia, we had always dreamed of moving into the city. After getting engaged, we were excited to make our first home together in Old City. We wanted our engagement photos to mark the beginning of this exciting new chapter in our lives. And there are almost too many good photo opportunities around the city; it was hard to choose! We especially enjoy our roof deck where we have a great view of the Ben Franklin Bridge and the Philadelphia skyline.”
Wedding Planning
“I’m a natural planner and immediately sprung into action after our engagement: going to wedding expos, meeting with vendors, and doing all of my research. By having an almost two-year engagement, we’ve been able to take our time making our choices and enjoy this special time. One year into our engagement now, we have all of our vendors booked and can’t wait for the big day!”
