I love the romantic feeling of spring, it’s a time of growth, change, and the warm weather makes everything feel whimsical! Allison and Matt’s wedding was the perfect portrayal of the romanticism that comes with spring. Plus the Italian heritage of the couple may have something to do with the utterly romantic feel of the day. The rustic charm cultivated at Welkinweir was the perfect atmosphere for this outdoor wedding. Floral garlands dangled from the tent’s ceiling, there were homemade Limoncello favors, and family and friends celebrated the joining of one beautiful union. Campli Photography captured every endearing moment and detail that transpired during this lovely celebration and all of the gorgeous visuals are below. Salute to the happy couple!
From the Photographer, David Campli Photography: “Allison and Matt met by chance at a bar. Sounds typical, right? But that night Allison did something completely out of character, she slipped Matt just her phone number and walked away. The next day Matt called and asked if a name went with the number, the rest became history. Both the bride and groom have Italian heritage so incorporating that into a uniquely inspired wedding was a must. From their romantic engagement session at Terrain, to their wedding at Welkinweir Estate we have been so happy to be a part of it all. The bride glowed in her exclusive BHLDN dress by Catherine Deane. A custom layered blush/ivory tulle skirt was created by Rita Maridadi of Maridadi Couture. The groom stunned in a black Armani suit, dressing it down by skipping the tie. Personal touches infused the entire wedding day. There was homemade Limoncello by the groom’s father, chic, rustic garlands designed by Ilonka and authentic Italian cookies by Termini Brothers.”
How They Met:
“Matt and I met at a bar, which I realize sounds very typical, but there’s a little more to the story. . . As cliche as it sounds, we noticed each other right away and there was an instant connection, so much so that I felt compelled to act on that feeling. I can remember thinking that if I didn’t do something, I would probably never see him again and that just wasn’t okay with me! I excused myself from my friend, quickly scribbled only my phone number onto a napkin (with a pen I borrowed from the bartender) and folded the napkin into a tiny square. As I walked by Matt and his friend, I wedged the napkin between his crossed arms and just kept walking. It was completely out of character for me, but apparently Matt was impressed by my approach. He called me a few days later and we have been together ever since.”
The Proposal:
“Matt proposed to me over dinner at the Birchrunville Store Cafe, my favorite restaurant. It was just the two of us and I was under the impression that we were celebrating my birthday. He tied the ring inside a linen napkin that he had embroidered with an Italian phrase that roughly translates to “be with me always.” He had the napkin folded up in his pocket all night before surprising me with the very same gesture I had surprised him with three years earlier on the night that we met. It was very sweet and romantic.”
“Wedding planning was a whirlwind – 11 months have never gone by so quickly! A few of my close friends were recently married, so I had great inspiration (and referrals!) from the beginning. I’m a big planner and tried really hard to stick to a schedule and stay on top of all of the details, but there still were a number of unanticipated turns. Eventually I had to learn to expect the unexpected, and I think that was for the best.”
About the Venue | Welkinweir:
“We chose Welkinweir for its beautiful natural setting. Welkinweir means “where sky meets water” and with the view of the pond, it lives up to its name. We loved the history of the old stone estate, the ruins (where we had our ceremony), and the gardens. We liked that it was an outdoor space that didn’t feel overly manicured or pristine. It was important to us to create an intimate, relaxed vibe, so we really appreciated how private and peaceful it felt there.”
Wedding Inspiration:
“All of the things we love most and that make us who we are: our families; our Italian heritage; springtime in Chester County and the fresh new life that comes with it…especially the peonies.”
