Zachary Andrew Events seamlessly plans timeless and luxurious celebrations! Through his organic approach to create an urban styled shoot at the BOK building, we can visualize the innate beauty our city has cultivated! With his inspiration to provide inclusive wedding inspiration for everyone, a concept of two weddings that showcase both male and female same-sex couples began to flourish. Earthy elements and natural lush textures come to play through the work of this cohesive vendor collaboration. We hope these talented wedding vendors can inspire you as much as they inspire us. From the Wedding Planner/Coordinator, Zachary Andrews Events: “I married my husband, Sean, in March of last year, and I would search the internet endlessly for same-sex wedding inspiration. I know firsthand what it’s like to break traditions and be at the forefront of setting same-sex wedding trends. It was extremely important to the team of vendors and myself to feature both a male and female couple to provide inspiration to those seeking it. I hope this styled shoot can provide a springboard for another same sex couple out there who are seeking that inspiration.”
Styled Shoot Concept
“Philadelphia is such an amazing and inspirational city. There’s no better place (in my opinion) to take in the ever-growing skyline and landscape than from the rooftop of the Bok Building. Bok is an urban oasis in South Philadelphia with beautiful art deco inspired architecture. I wanted this styled shoot to reflect a sort of urban elegance and ethereal feeling. It was important to me that we capture the sense of being on top of the city like it’s there for your pleasure and enjoyment on one of the most special occasions of your life. To do this the vendor team needed to bring the elements from the rooftop views down into the event spaces.”
The Day of the Shoot:
“Every time I visited the Bok Building prior to this shoot it rained, but our shoot day turned out beautifully. The team from Papertini as well as myself showed up the day prior to our shoot to begin the process of setting up the multiple event spaces (in total 4 separate spaces to fill with the decor, and the rooftop speaks for itself). We utilized the boy’s gymnasium as our main reception space and the workshop at our ceremony location. The other spaces we used were the auditorium/stage, the rooftop, and the back side of the workshop (where the cake and a dance floor were located).
On the day of the shoot, the team of wonderful vendors worked harmoniously together. We had a long day beginning at 10 am and lasting until about 7 pm. This allowed Sharyn to capture the beautiful sunset on the rooftop but also allowed her to capture the open spaces at Bok filled with sunlight.”
“The Black Tux provided the men’s suits. They provide an easy way to order suits or tuxedos online.”
“In working with Karena, from Papertini, she came up with this beautiful earth-toned palette of colors that perfectly complimented the space, and pulled from the soaring rooftop views of the city. Papertini incorporated wood tones, metals, blue fabrics, and lots of flickering candlelight to resemble the skyline lit up at night. Karena and the entire Papertini team are some of the most creative ladies I have had the opportunity to work with. Their aspiration for pushing the limit, and trying new things constantly has my jaw hitting the floor.”
“Vision Furniture provided us with the tables and chairs in the reception and ceremony locations for our shoot.”
“Sharyn Frenkel Photography and Drew E. Myers Photography are both an absolute gem to work with. Their fine art, non-traditional photojournalistic style perfectly captures the couple and the beauty of the natural surroundings. Sharyn & Drew were both an essential part of capturing our vision. They work harmoniously together, and have a way of making everyone around them feel comfortable and relaxed (plus it shows in their work).”
“Janelle from Dear Love Invitations created two separate wedding invitations suites to coincide with our male and female couples. Each of the final designs perfectly captured the urban feel of our shoot. Janelle was sure to capture the masculinity of our male couple in the men’s suite and the beautiful femininity of the women in their invitation suite.”
“The Wedding Suite at Nordstrom, King of Prussia, PA provided a beautiful assortment of designer wedding dresses. With the help of Site Manager and Wedding Stylist Samantha Barth, I settled on a gorgeous Vera Wang ballroom gown.”
“Although the hair (Ashley from Cynergy Hair Studio) and makeup artist (Jazmin from JazminRae Makeup) had not worked together before, they came together to enhance the beauty of both the couples we worked with.”
“Jennifer Low, from the Frosted Fox Cake Shop in Philadelphia, came up with a beautiful cake design that incorporated the lyrics from the “first dance” song. The cake was beautifully adorned with florals from Papertini.”

“Lastly, Bok provided the beautiful background and rooftop for our shoot. Melissa, the Venue Coordinator, was an absolute pleasure to work with and was always available to answer any questions we had.”
