Vibrant Artist’s Wedding at One North Broad by Ashley Gerrity Photography

From the photographer, Rachel Pray of Ashley Gerrity Photography: “Back in the summer, we had the joy of capturing Britt and Ian’s vibrant wedding at ONE North Broad. They had planned their honeymoon around a massive race in Europe, and running has continued to be one of Britt’s passions, most recently noted in her marathon run outlining Ocean City. Britt and Ian’s elegant wedding at One North Broad was the natural outworking of their unique style as a couple. We loved how Britt’s bright and bold style permeated the wedding day. The vivid colors of her bouquet, the bright teal of the invitation, and the individually painted table numbers from her own hands, all combined to give the feel of Britt. Passionate and free. She has continued to paint and has had her work displayed all over the city!

As a painter herself, Britt wanted to make sure her guests could take home some art work themselves. Denise Fike, Live Illustrator, gave guests a one of a kind keepsake from the wedding. Many of them had taken the black tie optional to heart and were all glammed up. Denise captured that exquisitely to allow each guest to relive their wedding chic in the days and months to come.”

How They Met

“We met over 8 years ago on social media. After a few weeks of chatting back and forth, we met up in person for drinks at a bar in Philly.”

The Proposal

“We went out to dinner and after dinner he asked me if I wanted to go see the Christmas lights in Rittenhouse. We walked to the park and sat on a bench for a few minutes just enjoying the lights and the Christmas tree. After a few minutes of sitting and chatting, he got off the bench, got on one knee, and proposed!”

Wedding Planning

“I tried to keep it organized and low stress! I started off with a project plan, and just tried to chip away at a few tasks per week. It definitely consumed a lot of my mind-space at the time, but I tried to not let it get overwhelming.”

One North Broad

“We got married at One North Broad, the Masonic Temple in Center City, Philly. It is such a gorgeous, unique venue. We had never been inside before touring it for the wedding, and we knew a lot of our guests had never been there either. It was the perfect mix of classic, elegant and unique.”

Wedding Inspiration

“It was a summer wedding so we kept the color scheme bright and vibrant. We reflected this in the flowers, cake, and table settings.”

Best Moment

“It’s tough to pick one! The whole day was so special and went very quickly. I’d have to say our first dance tough, we danced to an acoustic version of “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)” and it was really beautiful.”

Wedding Planning Advice

Make a plan (spreadsheets are your friend), get started early and just chip away at some tasks each week. Get all the big things nailed down first: venue, catering, photographer, flowers, music, then get started on all of the little details, because there are a lot of them!”

Vendors

“Luckily easy, we had fantastic vendors. They were all professionals who have been in the wedding business for a long time so they were easy to work with. They told us exactly what they needed from us, and asked what we needed from them.”
