Wedding Photographer Highlight: Benjamin Deibert Photography
Benjamin Deibert Photography captures the special moments for couples to cherish for a lifetime. With years of experience, this company can provide quality photographs for your engagement or wedding. The artists behind the camera, Benjamin and Ashley, fell in love and together as a team, they evoke those same unfiltered emotions for their clients. Shooting with these two is like hanging out with your best friends, and their documentary-style photography is one of the many things that set this business apart from all the rest. We chatted with these Philadelphia Wedding Photographers to get to know the experts behind the lens, so keep scrolling for our exclusive Q & A with Benjamin and Ashley Deibert!
Who are the artists behind Benjamin Deibert Photography?
“We are Ben and Ashley, a husband-and-wife team, based in Philadelphia with roots from NYC. In 2010 we met on Match.com, and after about six months of dating, Ben asked Ashley to shoot a wedding with him…and well, the rest is history. In 2016, we moved to Philly and bought our first home in Northern Liberties, which is fun ongoing project to harness our inner ‘Chip and JoJo’ (HGTV lovers know what we mean!) We spend a lot of time hanging with our fur-kids Winston (dog) and two cats, Kosmo and Buster. When we aren’t shooting weddings (which is not often!), we love to travel the world- taking a few international trips every year. Experiencing other cultures is what we feel gives us creative ideas and the drive to do what we do. We are also huge foodies, constantly checking out the latest and greatest restaurants as well as cooking up a storm in our kitchen.”
How has the company evolved since the beginning?
“We shot our first wedding in 2010 for a friend. A couple of years later, we shot a couple more, then a few more, and then in 2016 we moved from NYC to Philly and got really focused on our wedding photography business, and started shooting 30+ weddings a year. This journey has been so incredible and more than we could have imagined. Not only have we met so many amazing couples that allow us to tell their love story through photos, but have been able to capture the classic, silly, quirky and stylish. Because of our amazing diverse base of clients, every wedding we photograph is a challenge to do something different.”
How would you describe your photography style?
“A blend of classic and candid. Even when we are shooting classic portraits, we believe in natural, fun poses and set up that make people look or feel like themselves!”
What is the process like for couples who want to book you for their wedding?
“The first step is setting up a consultation – we do these at our home studio in Northern Liberties, or via web video for those who are out of the area. This hour meeting helps us get to know you and your fiancé better, as well as walk you through the process of working together and our approach to photography. We believe your photographer is such a personal decision that getting comfortable with each other is a great step one!”
What do you love most about photographing weddings/couples?
“No two couples are the same, and no two weddings are the same – we love this unique aspect of weddings and getting to know each couple we work with. By doing this, we can capture each couple’s love story and vibe, so we create images that truly reflect them – from the classic portraits to the really fun candid moments – we love that we are giving couples something they will cherish forever.”
Besides weddings, what other moments do you like to capture?
“Because we live for the candid moments, the entire day is really fun to us – especially the reception! Once the drinks start flowing, the moments to capture are endless. Engagements are also a very fun session for us, as we get to be relaxed and silly with each other without timeline pressure.”
What other locations do you cover in addition to Philadelphia?
“We do the majority of our weddings in Philly, South Jersey, and the Philly Suburbs. We also cover NYC and Lancaster County. We have been known to hop on a plane more than once to capture a wedding – so basically – anywhere!”
