From Michael Magro Jr of Trilogy Event Design:

Bob and Tom contacted us on a Sunday in the beginning of November requesting a consultation with us. They wanted help planning and coordinating their entire wedding. My partner, Chief Event Planner Randi Martin, and I spoke with the couple by telephone to get a sense for the wedding they wished to have. The changing laws in New Jersey allowing same sex marriage got the two of them thinking, they had told us, that they would like to tie the knot. They were looking to have an elegant evening affair, that would celebrate their love amongst family and friends. The only caveat was that they were hoping to get married on their 25th anniversary together. 17 days later from our initial consultation…

We hit it off immediately with Bob and Tom. They knew what they were envisioning, and also knew that they wanted to have a fabulous time on the day. 4 days after the initial consultation, Bob and Tom signed with us to plan, design, and coordinate their wedding. With only 13 days to spare, my wife and other business partner, Creative Director Francesca Staffieri, met with our grooms in Delaware where they had expressed interest in seeing the Hotel DuPont. The Hotel was magnificent — a work of art that wowed Bob and Tom from the moment they walked through the door.

When it works it works, and within hours they decided that the Hotel DuPont would be where they would get married.

As Francesca got to work designing all of the stationery that would feature on their wedding day, Randi worked to secure the other wedding professionals who would help bring Bob and Tom’s vision alive. Wanting to use fall color as their palette, Francesca and Randi created a cohesive event design that exploded with pops of orange and the personal touches that made Bob and Tom’s wedding one that their guests will always remember.

They were married on the steps leading down to the Gold Ballroom by Bob’s brother James while their nephew opened their ceremony with a beautiful, heart-felt serenade. The love throughout the room for this fantastic couple on their 25th anniversary was palpable. When their ceremony was complete, they moved up the stairs to their dance-filled reception in the Hotel’s Du Barry Room where each guest found a “Thank you” written by the couple and custom-designed by Francesca at each place setting. The image of Bob and Tom on the dance floor enjoying themselves, celebrating their love together happened to be one of the happiest days of our lives as event designers.
