From the Photographer, Sarah Canning Photography: “Anna and Trey are such a pleasure to be around. They are such a fun-loving couple and made me feel like a lifelong friend from the start. I actually met Anna + Trey at their apartment in Philadelphia and we all hopped into Anna’s Fiat. We figured it was the easiest way to bop all around the city and it was super fun getting to know each other better. Anna + Trey knew exactly where they wanted to go and created the perfect Philadelphia engagement session. We hit so many great spots including the 18th Century Garden, Independence Hall, a Broad Street view of City Hall, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and much more. They got a wide array of beautiful shots. I love the elegant and classic feel that Olde City portrays. Trey is actually from Birmingham, Alabama. Although he now lives with Anna in Philadelphia, all of his family still lives in Alabama. Anna + Trey wanted their engagement pictures to embody those classic Philadelphia vibes to get their guests excited to come to their beautiful city! The couple will wed next summer at the Belmont Mansion and I absolutely cannot wait to photograph them again!”
How They Met:
“Trey is from Birmingham, Alabama but had moved to Philadelphia for his first job out of college. I grew up here but was living in Baltimore for my first job. Treys mom took a special assignment for her job that relocated her to Baltimore for the summer. The whole family used it as a great excuse to explore the north east and get to see Trey more often! He traveled down to Baltimore to spend the 4th of July with his mom and ended up seeing a college lacrosse friend on the street. They got to chatting and the friend invited Trey along to a cookout. The cookout happened to be at my house! Before I even got to chat with him, Trey fell off my roof deck and the night almost ended right there but instead we started talking and the rest is history! His mom deserves much of the credit for bringing us together, but we both believe it is definitely fate because things had to be just so for us to ever cross paths.”
“Trey is the happiest person I have ever met. He loves life, he loves his family and friends, and he is always, always in a good mood. It draws you in and makes you excited to do anything and everything with him. He is incredibly thoughtful and romantic and is always finding ways to surprise me. We are truly best friends.”
The Proposal:
“We went to Alabama to visit friends and family and were supposed to be meeting some for a drink. We were walking to the bar in downtown Birmingham and a Trey pointed out the historic Alabama Theatre. We walked under the marquee and when we got to the other side, he turned me around to look at the sign asking me to marry him. When I turned back around he was down on one knee and the photographer was snapping pictures. It was a complete surprise and such an intimate moment even though we were outside. Afterward his whole family and a ton of friends were waiting at the bar to celebrate!”
“We have a ton of people traveling from Alabama so we wanted to really showcase the city so that we could use the pictures for our save the dates. We also really wanted it to reflect us and capture how in love and relaxed we are! I think Sarah did just that. They are perfect!”
Wedding Planning Experience:
“It honestly has been really fun. I know there will be stressful parts and deadlines, but we are keeping “us” at the forefront and making sure it will be FUN for our guests and a celebration of who we are..so, we are having some good old fashioned southern BBQ at a venue that overlooks the city we love! We didn’t want to do anything too stuffy, and we are really making all the decisions together which is so fun.”
Engagement Session Experience:
“Sarah made us feel so at ease! I was nervous that we would look stiff since neither of us had even done a photo shoot before but she had so many tricks and tips to make sure we looked relaxed and comfortable. I am so happy we did the session because it will make the wedding day that much more comfortable. Her pictures are beautiful and we are so looking forward to the big day!”
