How They Met:
“Ryan and I met on a ski trip while we were sophomores at the University of Delaware. We initially bonded over our love for skiing, music, adventure, and the outdoors. We became friends and went on a number of ski trips with friends. After a while, we found that there was a definite spark between us, and the rest fell into place. Fast forward six years, and we are happily engaged and living together in Philadelphia’s Rittenhouse Square.”
“I know that this may sound cliché, but Ryan truly is my best friend. He knows the best ways to cheer me up, make me laugh, push me to be my best self, and love me fully. I really can’t pick just one thing that I love most about him because he truly is my all around better half.”
The Proposal:
“Ryan, who plans the BEST surprises, suggested that we should go camping for the July 4th long weekend in Killington, Vermont. Thinking we were just going camping, was all for it and let him plan the whole thing. While hiking along part of the Appalachian Trail, we came to this magnificently large rock outlook where you could see our favorite ski mountain across the valley. Ryan told me to turn towards the mountain so that he could take a photo of me looking out towards it. After what seemed like a very long time to take a picture, I finally turned around, thinking he must of have captured the photo already, and there he was, down on one knee. I was completely surprised and caught off guard, began to cry, and yelled “YES!!” midway through his speech. Then, while hiking back down the mountain, Ryan revealed that instead of camping, we were staying in a beautiful lakeside cabin for the whole week, where we could enjoy just being together and engaged!”
Engagement Session Inspiration:
“Ryan and I have always loved Rittenhouse Square and moved into an apartment on the park three years ago. One of our favorite parts of each day is how we get to start each weekday together by walking to Suburban Station and cutting through the park before sunrise. “
“Over the past few years, we have also had countless picnics there, and even though we enjoy living in a city, we especially appreciate having a little slice of nature right outside our front door. In fantasizing about our wedding, we always talked about wanting to do our photos in a place that was special to us and the Square felt right.”
Wedding Planning Experience:
“It’s been a lot of fun so far. Ryan and I enjoy working together on the planning, as well as, collaborating on a day that will be so special for us. We have very similar ideas for style and artistic vibes, so it’s been great working together to make that vision a reality! We are very much looking forward to celebrating our big day with our friends and family in Upstate New York this fall.”
Engagement Session Experience:
“Our photographer, Alison has been amazing! She made us feel so comfortable and walked us through the whole process! She was incredibly flexible, especially when the weather didn’t work out the way we wanted it to. Alison created photos that we fell in love with at first sight. We are also extremely lucky to have her as our wedding photographer and we can’t wait to see what she creates for us on the big day”
