How They Met:
“Matt and I went to high school in the western suburbs of Philly and have been friends since 10th grade. We parted ways for college and spent a few years traveling before making Philadelphia home, but always kept in touch. Some mutual friends reconnected us when I moved into the city in 2011 and we have been crazy about each other/ driving each other crazy ever since.”
The Proposal:
“Matt proposed on the first full moon of the Spring equinox last year because we had a little ritual surrounding that day. It was simple and thoughtful and just a really sweet, quiet day that we spent together.”
Wedding Planning Experience:
“Our families expected a big, traditional wedding but Matt and I had something else in mind. We didn’t want to plan for a year, or spend tons of money on one day that would be gone in a flash. We avoided most of the preparation by making our date at the courthouse and not telling anyone about it until two weeks before the big day. We surprised friends and extended family afterwards with a social media announcement.”
“Our wedding was on a Tuesday in the heart of Center City. I will always remember the thrill of being all dressed up and having a ball while the rest of the world was just going to work– it was like the best day of playing hookey!”
“I wanted to share a delicious meal with my family at one big table. Everything else was negotiable.”
“Take the time to listen to yourselves and each other.”
