With Jenni hailing from New Zealand, and Greg growing up here in the US, they wanted their wedding to be a gathering of their closest friends and family members that was laid back but beautifully styled, a perfect setting for people from different continents to meet and dance the night away. These two worldly lovebirds wanted their day to be a jazzy garden party set outdoors, and the talented gals from Heart & Dash brought together a powerhouse team of local vendors to make it happen. Morris House Hotel sits in the heart of Washington Square West, surrounded by history at every turn – the building itself dates back to 1787! With a romantic watercolor-inspired palette, cozy lounges in quiet corners, and guests dining al fresco under twinkle lights and draperies, Jenni & Greg’s day from beginning to end was an absolute stunner. A personal favorite moment was when Greg and Jenni did their first look before the ceremony, they were so excited to get married that they skipped through the streets of Philadelphia!”

The Proposal:

“We both love cycling and the outdoors… so after we had biked down to Wissahickon and had dinner at the Valley Green Inn, we sat by the river on a beautiful evening and he asked me there. I almost couldn’t cycle home, I was so surprised!”

Wedding Planning Experience:

“Our friends told us to elope, and we didn’t believe them until too late! It’s unbelievable how far in advance some people plan / how things get booked up early.”

About The Venue | Morris House Hotel:

“We really wanted a garden or outdoor wedding, but since our family and friends would be coming in from New Zealand, the UK, Pittsburgh and beyond, we also wanted to be in central Philadelphia. The Morris House was the perfect answer to this — everyone commented that they couldn’t believe they were in the heart of old city, it was so green and secluded. It was lovely to have the hotel to ourselves, and to have the wedding party staying on site.”

Greg: “Getting all our family and friends together in one place for a happy occasion”

Jenni: “The four-level human pyramid we made, with the bride on the top — I’m amazed no-one fell off!”

Wedding Planning Advice:

“Figure out what matters to you and prioritize that. For us, that was cocktails, live music, and flowers. Especially if you don’t have family locally, then a planner is totally worth it. As much as you can, don’t sweat the details — remember that when you are in the middle of planning some tiny details will feel super important, and you will look back later and realize they didn’t matter at all.”

Wedding Vendor Experience:

“We had some great vendors, and having a planner made a huge difference for coordination on the day. Special shout-out to Nutmeg Cakes – the tasting session was really special, and the cake was amazing. Also to We are Wildflowers for the most beautiful flowers I could have possibly imagined, and to our photographer Brittney Raine, who was great at making us laugh!”
