Sophisticated Black-Tie Wedding at Moulin Philadelphia at Sherman Mills by Jordan Brian Studios

written by Dolly Marshall

Laura and Josh are a couple all about family and friends. From the photographer Jordan Brian, “What I loved about this wedding is that the couple have a lot of personality and are completely comfortable with them selves. Laura works at a new tech startup that is in the Philadelphia area. Josh runs a summer camp and lost both of his parents so this uniting of two families was very special to them. They also put an emphasis on seeing their friends and family have an amazing time. My favorite of all time is the sign of “Usher” to seat everyone for the ceremony. Brilliant!”

How They Met

“We both swiped right on the dating app, Bumble, back in Sept 2015. And the rest, as they say, is history.”

The Proposal

“I completely blindsided Laura with ten dozen roses and candles as soon as she got home. Then had friends and family meet us at a bar in Center City later that night to celebrate. It was just perfect!”

Wedding Planning

“We were grateful for having lots of family and friends helping out throughout the process. And fortunate to work with such an amazing catering and sales manager, Tara Justice.”

Moulin at Sherman Mills

“We got married at Moulin at Sherman Mills, an old 19th century textile mill that was recently renovated. We chose the space because the rooms were very open and flexible, the catering service was Brulee (one of our faves) and it could hold both our ceremony and reception. Bonus, six bathroom stalls in the women’s room!”

Wedding Inspiration

“My sister made me sign up for Pinterest right away after I got engaged so grabbed some inspo from a few mood boards, but ultimately decided to utilize the space and went with a lot of greens, string lights and sprinkled in subtle pops of our personality.”

Best Moment

“After we were officially announced as married and walked back down the aisle hand in hand, Josh scooped me up for an epic hug and we were floating on cloud 9 (and bonus! Our photographer perfectly captured this moment so we’ll remember it forever) . Also loved the amount of limbo-ing that went down on the dance floor!”

Wedding Planning Advice

“Elope 🙂 Surround yourself with good people who have good energy and excitement around the day because it will become infectious. And always have a bottle of wine nearby when things start to get stressful!”
