Cozy, Intimate Spring Mill Cafe Microwedding

We bring you this super cozy, family focused microwedding at Spring Mill Cafe. One of the positive things to come out of the last year and a half are all the small venues getting more attention from couples tying the knot. This quaint, historic cafe is a great example of that. Kate and Chris (the couple) did a fantastic job matching their aesthetic to their surroundings. Enjoy!

From Kate, the bride:

“Chris and I met in Avalon in the summer of 2016 and, after two postponements, tied the knot with our immediate family members on June 25th. [With everything going on] were most comfortable with hosting an intimate wedding and it proved to us that a microwedding can be just as much fun as a large party. We plan on hosting all of our guests for a large wedding reception in June 2022 at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, as long as it is safe enough to do so.”

“The keys to a successful, fun microwedding: get everyone fully vaccinated and hire Snack Time to play! We hugged, laughed, cried, and danced the night away to the live music, which turned our intimate, emotional wedding into a PARTY. It was really important to us to incorporate our loved ones who were not there with us: we honored Chris’s late father by serving his favorite treats (nonpareils from Nancy’s Candies in the Wayne Farmers Market) along with the cake, I wore my maternal and paternal grandmothers’ pearls on my bouquet, we used frosted plastic cups including our dog Carson’s face (yes, she was named after Carson Wentz!), and we were able to FaceTime with my brother’s beloved girlfriend, who has been stuck in her home country of India and unable to travel back to Philly due to the Covid crisis happening there right now. The day was perfectly “us”: private, family focused, a little bit preppy, and fun!”

“Even though our day was nothing like the huge party we had planned, it exceeded our expectations in every way and allowed us to focus on what is most important: our marriage, our families, our health (and great French food)! Because of the scaled-down nature of the event, I was able to focus my energy on the tiniest details, and everything came together perfectly. After our microwedding, we were able to unwind in Utah and next year hope to go to Hawaii after our big celebration!”
