Diner en Blanc is hosting their 5th annual fete this year in Philadelphia, and before every event they entertain potential guests with a simply amazing preview party! Subsumed in the social gathering there is an exclusive table decorating contest that is a significant part of their preview party. Generally the Diner en Blanc preview party is a great introduction to the year’s event and a great chance for guests to grab inspiration. The Diner en Blanc table contest is also a great opportunity for vendors to showcase their design talent, and this year was especially amazing! Each year there is a designated theme for each table and 2016 has been presented as Philadelphia: A City of Firsts. So it was properly fitting that this year’s party was located at the Philadelphia Reading Terminal Market.
Philly In Love, along with the talented Minh Cao (Emcee Studio Photographie), Lindsey Morgan (Lindsey Morgan Events), Dianna (The Paperly Studio), and Lexi Eveleth (Ever Laser), created an ethereal inspiration table scheme under our given category First World Heritage City. Philadelphia was deemed the First World Heritage City of the nation this past year under the UNESCO initiative. The initiative focuses on admiration and preservation for the city, so we came up with the concept to have our table feature sustainability as well as a subtle color scheme of red, white, and blue. We resourced most of our table decor from Philly Aids Thrift (candle stick holders, lamp, picture frame, cheese tray), to incorporate used and re-purposed items. In addition to featuring the official heritage site which is Independence Hall, as you can see displayed on the plates! Most importantly we assimilated the UNESCO heritage quote which is visible on a vintage picture frame! Keep scrolling to see how it all came together!
