Halloween Inspired Wedding With Goats!

BeauMonde Originals brings us another unique and eclectic wedding, this time at Awbury Arboretum. Tracy and Dan added super cool Halloween touches to their October weddings. From the painted pumpkins, witchcraft inspired shoes, and spooky donuts, this wedding is so fun! Dont miss the petting goats, yes we said GOATS from the Philly Goat Project. Enjoy!

How did you two meet?

We met in high school through mutual friends. I went to Dan’s prom with him, and he was my date to my prom.

Tell us about the proposal:

We were in Sleepy Hollow, New York, for the Great Jack O Lantern Blaze, an event with hundreds of carved and lit pumpkins. Dan didn’t give any hint of anything, but as we got to a multi-tiered wedding cake created out of pumpkins, he said he thought this was a good spot and asked the question. We hadn’t been to the event before or known there would be a wedding cake, so he definitely got lucky on that one! He proposed with my great-grandmother’s engagement ring from the 1920’s, which was really special. We both love Halloween, so Dan proposing on Halloween was perfect. It’s also why we picked the weekend before Halloween for our wedding.

Before your wedding day, what were you most excited about?

We were most excited about taking this next step with each other and sharing the special day with our family and friends. We also were excited about the non-traditional ways we planned to make our day more “us”.

Looking back now, what were your favorite parts of your wedding day?

Besides getting to say “I do,” the goats who visited our wedding from the Philly Goat project were definitely a hit!

We had a ton of fun walking them, feeding them rose petals, and taking pictures with them. Taking our photos before the ceremony was a surprisingly fun experience, along with our first look.

Tell us about some of your details / styling / decor and why did you choose them?

We are not a super fancy couple, and we wanted to bring that to our wedding day. My dress was lace and off-white, which was exactly what I was looking for. We are also big fans of Halloween, which led me to choose spiderweb heels for the day. Dan went more casual with a suit, and wanted to do something that would go well with the fall colors of the arboretum, so he chose a dark red suit. We also went simple with our decorations, using pumpkins and mums for the ceremony, and then small pumpkins and sunflowers for our table decorations. One of our favorite things was being able to highlight our cats on our tables – instead of doing numbers, each of the tables was named after one of our six cats, with pictures of them on each table. We love being outside, so the arboretum had a wonderful indoor/outdoor space that worked really well for us and what we wanted.

What photos are you most excited to see from your wedding day?

We are most excited to see our first look and other photos together. We are not people who take pictures all the time, so it will be great to have some nice photos of the two of us that we can frame and hang in our home.

Those, and of course the goats, too!

Do you have any advice for brides/grooms to be when planning their wedding that you wish you knew?

Make your day represent who you are as a couple. You will get tons of suggestions/advice from friends and family (solicited and not!), and while you might consider all of the suggestions, it’s okay to go in a different direction and do things your way.

And make sure that you get some time for yourselves, even if it’s not very long. After our ceremony, we went back to the bridal suite to have a minute and have some hors d’ oeuvres before gritting all of our guests., and it was a great time to have.
