Katie and Quinn are seemingly sweet and very much in love with one another.  The beauty of their flourishing bond was photographed into an optic story of their wedding day courtesy of Shannon Collins Photography.  Through these beautiful photographs you can feel this couples natural chemistry that was embellished in their organic venue, Greensgrow Farms.  On this special day, Katie and Quinn celebrated their love, support for each other, their family and friends, and their local community.  To me, this wedding was everything any couple could dream of, and every element of this day was truly an inspiration for all!

How They Met:

“We met in New York City when Quinn was living there after college and I was there for grad school – we met through a mutual friend.  We were both dating other people at the time, but two years later, we reconnected and I made up an excuse to go visit her in Brooklyn. When it was time for me to go back to Philly, we both felt a little sad.  Two days later, a care package filled with my favorite treats showed up at my office, and we’ve been together ever since (clearly the way to my heart is through my stomach!).”

The Proposal:

“She surprised me after yoga – I came home and the apartment was full of candles.  She read the sweetest stuff from a spiral-bound notebook and we both cried and then called a thousand people.  We both proposed to each other though – I proposed to her at her brother and sister-in-law’s house a couple weeks later, but I took her so by surprise that she didn’t know how to react! Thankfully I had already said yes, so I knew I had it locked down.”

Wedding Planning Experience:

“It alternated between fun and stressful.  There were a lot of color-coded excel spreadsheets.”

Wedding Inspiration:

“We wanted to do something that felt really true to ourselves and reflected our values.  We questioned every piece of it – what did we want the ceremony to be like? The dancing? The food? We didn’t want to do anything just because we felt like we should.  We also felt really strongly about supporting local, women-owned and run businesses, and did so to the best of our abilities within our budget.  Also, the election was four days before the wedding, which was really hard. We decided to have safety pins and rainbow stickers available, which may seem like silly tokens but actually meant a lot to us.  It gave the wedding a sort of defiant feel. But I think in retrospect the way we planned it ended up being even more important than we could have anticipated – being surrounded by our family and friends and community (and by vendors who supported us and shared our values) was maybe the best thing that could have happened at that moment.”

Best Memory:

“I would say we both loved our vows –  we wrote our own, which was very nerve-wracking. We’ve actually read and watched them (my best friend filmed a lot of the wedding, unbeknownst to us) several times since then and cried (and laughed!) every time.  The speeches – during the wedding and the reception, given by Quinn’s family and my best friends – were also just so funny and heart-warming and amazing and memorable.  And at the end of the night, the DJ played “All You Need is Love” by the Beatles and everyone sang and made this huge circle – it was the best. But really – you’re just surrounded by so much love and support, it’s hard to pick just one memory! It was a total love explosion.”

Wedding Vendor Experience:

“It was fantastic – everyone was very patient with my 40,000 emails.  I think initially I felt like I had to figure out everything by myself, but I realized that everyone is there to help you and support you and reassure you. I’m so thankful for everything they did to make the day so special – we feel incredibly lucky! And seriously, I can’t stress enough how important it was to support these amazing women and their businesses – we wished we had been able to have our entire roster like that but we also were sticking to a pretty tight budget. “
